The magnetic removable fence can go on either side and park anywhere on the table. The cutter shield is automatic and wraps around the blade as you operate it. With the cutting arm lifted all the way up, the paper holder lifts up, comes back down to hold your project in place. Make your cut. With an oversized 14.5-inch work surface and cutting blade, long projects and portrait layout are no problem for this cutter. The Dahle 561 claims to cut up to 35 sheets of 20lb paper per trim. We put that to test by cutting through ten sheets. Then stacking those together, making 20 sheets. And then again, 30 sheets. And then 36 sheets. With no problem this cutter cut right through it all.
