Calendars can be great marketing tools for your business, or just fun things for your employees to have and use. Here are a few tips to get you started.
Getting Photographs
Depending on the scope of your calendar, the types of photographs you use can be very different. The more interesting your calendar images are, the more likely your customers and clients are to actually use them.
If you are simply creating an in-house calendar for your employees to use and enjoy, you can use images that are more fun and less formal. Take some candid shots over the course of the year and use some of the better ones in your calendar. Good taste should still prevail, of course, but your employees may enjoy having themselves and their coworkers immortalized throughout the year. You can also print the dates of important events within your company such as meetings, retreats, and holiday parties.
Logos, Etc.
If you calendar is to be used for marketing and promotional purposes, make sure that you use a high quality version of your logo, and that your company contact information is visible somewhere on each month’s page. These are essentially brochures and business cards that will be hung on the wall and looked at every day of the year, so make sure that you position your company’s name in a way that it will get noticed.
Make sure that you include all national holidays and other important dates as well. Lots of people enjoy having small bits of trivia and the like, such as the phases of the moon, on their calendars as well, so consider including these.
Choosing the correct font is also important. If you are a construction company, you probably don’t want to print your calendar with fancy-schmancy letters that would be more befitting a nail salon.
Putting it Together
There are a few software programs that can help you do this. Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, and MS Publisher are some layout programs that have calendar templates. Even MS Word can probably be of some use here too, and there are also plenty of free calendar templates available online. Just take a look around to find the one that works for you.
