Frequently Asked Questions About the Akiles FlexiCloser Automatic Wire Closer

Akiles FlexiCloserAkiles makes some of the best binding equipment available and the company recently released its innovative FlexiCloser Automatic Wire Closer. This is a technologically advanced machine that can automatically close wire spines so you can create professional-looking documents. TheFlexiCloser is one a of kind, so we tend to get a lot of questions about it. Check out the most frequently asked questions about this machine:

  • What supplies are compatible with the FlexiCloser?  The FlexiCloser can be used with 2:1 and 3:1 pitch wire spines. The spines can be up to 1.5” across. (In other words, your documents can contain up to 300 pages.) You can also use Spiral-O spines with this device.
  • What are the hooks on the front of the machine for?  Those hooks are actually a wire hanger. You can hang a wire spine on the hooks and then thread the tines through your document to begin the binding process.
  • I’m ready to close the spine. How do I do this?  It’s pretty easy. Just place your document on top of the FlexiCloser making sure that the open part of the spine is facing away from you. Push it all the way back so that the spine comes into contact with the magnetic strip. The machine will automatically detect the size of spine and lower the wire closing plate to close the spine.
  • I have a lot of documents to bind. How can the FlexiCloser help me out?  The FlexiCloser can store settings in its memory. When you bind a document, the machine locks the size of the spine in its memory so you can quickly and easily bind multiple documents using that same size spine. This will help you bind your documents very quickly.
  • The machine didn’t close the wire all the way. How can I fix this?  If, for some reason, the FlexiCloser doesn’t close the spines to your liking, you can use the plus and minus buttons on top of the device. Pressing the plus button will increase pressure and pressing minus will result in less pressure. Feel free to experiment with these settings so you can get the results you need.
  • I want to reset the machine. How do I do that?  If you look at the LCD control panel, you’ll see a button labeled with the letter “R.” Just press it to reset the machine. It’s quick and easy.
  • Is the FlexiCloser safe to use? I want to bind my documents and stay safe.  The FlexiCloser is indeed safe to use since it’s equipped with a Safety Sensor. The sensor can tell when fingers or hands are in the binding area. When that happens, the wire closing plate won’t go down all the way. You’ll be able to remove your hands without any problem.
