Producing thick documents can be challenging for a number of reasons. First, producing lengthy documents takes time and it can use up a lot of supplies. Second, it can be difficult to know which binding method to use. Here are three that can help you out:

  • Screw posts are ideal for thick documents. These supplies can be up to 5” long and you don’t need any special equipment to use them as long as you have a hole punch and a flat-head screwdriver. Make sure you securely fasten the screws after you slide them through the holes in your document. This secures the binding.
  • Depending on your comb binding machine’s binding capacity, you may be able to use it for those thick documents. A lot of devices can handle 2” combs that can bind 425 pages. Consult your machine’s instruction manual to find out if it’s compatible with larger combs.
  • If you have a VeloBind machine, chances are you can use it to bind your longer documents. Some VeloBind devices will work with supplies that can bind work containing up to 750 pages. Just remember that it can be difficult to edit documents bound with VeloBind strips, so make sure your work is perfect before binding it.

Binding your thick documents isn’t impossible and you might be able to use the machine and supplies you already have. Give it a try so you can make your work look its best.
